今天终于忍不住了,去haircut。我其实一般忍不过一个月。终于狠下心走进那个$30的salon。一个很热情地菲律宾混血女孩给我理。心情还不错。但是最后….. she asked,”is it good?” 我勉强说”yeah……go…od”….
Everything is the same, except the temperature. It’s minus 20 C today, it might be even worse next week. I didn’t consciously realize the freezing air until I was one step away from my building. Immediately every exposed facial skin cell started to remind me something was definitely wrong outside…
Anyway, I’m back!
Everything is so familiar yet different… 遗憾的依然是灰色的天空和拥挤的地铁. Anyway, this is the place where the sun rises from, where you can feel more belong than living in US. Everyday, I’m trying to embrace the city with my smile and be polite to every stranger… the Christmas is in the air. You can feel it in the chilly and festive air, the heartwarming carols you can hear everywhere; the blinding Christmas lights strung on trees and houses wherever you look. This is the time for eating, drinking, and being merry… above all else, this is the time for family and friendship…
The world has become white since yesterday once again and the wind just gets stronger and stronger. All the squirrels disappeared and I just talked to my roommate where have those little cuties gone? Underground? Inside the bush? I am getting used to see them peering at me along my road and now start to miss them……
Suddenly I found one small creature trembling on the branch of the tall tree right in front of my window. I live on 7th floor, so you can imagine how high the tree is. She was just staying there, tightly holding the branch. Poor baby, it’s too far to reach her from my window, and I am just wondering why she climbed up so high…..just to see me? :)
my bag and the small town street…
Here in New York, city of prose and fantasy, of capitalist automatism, its streets a triumph of cubism, its moral philosophy that of the dollar. More than any other city in the world, it is the fullest expression of modern age…
When we can meet again in New York?
First time ever, got special treatment at airport. The TSA security staff told me I got EXTRA SCREENING because of “ssss” printed on my ticket. When I asked why, the answer is that airline picks suspicious travelers based on certain criteria. Then I complained to a director of AA at airport, she claimed it’s decided by TSA while airline just printed out whatever the system came out with and what’s more, they couldn’t disclose the what is the real criteria as it’s confidential….
Hoho, funny. I got the special screening, at a special space, with special tool into my case. Then when I flew back from NY, another “ssss” on ticket. I start to wonder if this will happen each time here in US? Is it because of one-way ticket? Flight change?
Thanksgiving at Aunt’s home. Not very impressed with NewYork, just another big city, just you can meet all kinds of folks around the world. Turkey tasted just OK.
On the flight back, couldn’t sleep on the flight, no access internet, looking out of the window, 30000 feet high clouds never end…. I started to dislike some part of my life since I dislike the feeling of running every day. There are people like my aunt who I wanna spend more time with, but couldn’t.
I started to realize how far I was away from my real touch of my life. I buried myself into assignment, group discussion, non-profit projects, network, presentation etc…. but in the end, are those what I really want? They maybe must for career, job, self valuation….but what makes me really comfortable and enjoyable is just having a cup of drink, sharing soul and mind with the right one besides me…
